JAB Foundation Music Therapy Session: June Edition

13 June 2026 Lokoja, Nigeria

About This Event

The latest edition of the JAB Foundation Music Therapy Session opened with a warm welcome from the Founder and Executive Director, Prof. Jacqueline Badaki, who took a moment to introduce the Foundation, sharing its mission and vision with everyone in attendance. Participants then had the opportunity to introduce themselves, setting a friendly and open tone for the rest of the session.

The programme moved into a guided meditation session, accompanied by soothing instrumental music that filled the room. A calming breathing exercise helped ease the nerves of participants, creating a sense of stillness and presence ahead of the deeper work to come. Prof. Badaki followed this with an insightful talk on how emotions can be managed through music, highlighting why this practice matters for mental and emotional wellbeing.

Dr. Daniel Ajogbon then guided participants into the heart of the session, where two powerful songs were shared: Celebrate Me by IngaRose and Rise Up by Andra Day. Following the listening experience, participants were encouraged to reflect on the emotions these songs stirred within them and how those feelings connected to their own personal stories and life journeys.

What followed was a moving and deeply human moment. Several participants opened up about struggles they had faced, speaking candidly about their experiences. Dr. Ajogbon and Prof. Badaki responded with warmth and compassion, drawing on both personal experiences and professional expertise gathered over years of work with anxiety, depression, stress, and related challenges to offer guidance and reassurance to those who shared.

The session closed with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Prof. Badaki, followed by a relaxed networking session that allowed participants to connect further and build on the bonds formed throughout the day.

We are grateful to everyone who joined and made this session such a meaningful and healing experience. Stay tuned for details in our next edition, as the JAB Foundation continues its mission of promoting healing, resilience, and mental wellbeing through the power of music.
