The JAB Foundation Music Therapy Session, September Edition, held on 26th September 2026, brought participants together for an engaging and reflective experience centred on music, emotional wellbeing, and personal resilience.
The session commenced with an introduction by Daniel Esenyi, the Founder's Personal Assistant, who provided an overview of the JAB Foundation, highlighting its mission, vision, and three core pillars: mental health, reproductive health, and community empowerment. He also shared some of the milestones achieved by the Foundation over time. The unavoidable absence of the Founder and Executive Director, Prof. Jacqueline Azumi Badaki, was duly acknowledged.
The music therapy session was then led by Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Daniel Ajogbon, who guided participants through two carefully selected songs, "Can't Find Hope" by Abel Heart and "I'm Still Standing" by Elton John. The songs provided a meaningful foundation for reflection, encouraging participants to connect with themes of hope, resilience, perseverance, and overcoming difficult experiences.
Following the listening session, participants were invited to share their thoughts, reflections, and personal experiences. The discussion provided a supportive space for participants to explore how the songs connected with different aspects of their lives and experiences.
Dr. Ajogbon concluded the therapy session with words of wisdom, encouragement, and reflection. He reminded participants that the challenges and trials they have survived can become experiences that strengthen resilience, build inner strength, and contribute to personal growth.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Daniel Esenyi, who expressed appreciation to the participants and everyone who contributed to the success of the session.
A brief networking session followed, allowing participants to interact, connect, and share experiences beyond the formal proceedings. The September edition once again demonstrated the Foundation's commitment to creating safe and meaningful spaces where young people can reflect, connect, and strengthen their mental wellbeing through the power of music.
